Wales has 22 councils. Between them they hold hundreds of meetings a month, and decide on schools, bins, housing, roads, planning and council tax. Their papers are public but hard to follow. OpenCouncil reads them every day and tells you, in English and Welsh, what was decided and why.

What you can do here
Read what was decided, and why
Meetings of the full Council, the Cabinet, scrutiny and planning committees are explained in a few plain sentences: what the councillors decided, the reasons given, and links to the reports behind it.
Enter a postcode to find your ward and the councillors who represent it. See which committees they sit on, how often they turn up, and the interests they have declared.
One search covers the agendas, minutes and decisions of every council on OpenCouncil. Find out where else a school closure, a 20mph scheme or a new development has come up.
Every council, committee, topic and search has its own feed, and every council has a calendar of its meetings. Add them to a feed reader or your calendar. No account needed.
Councils don't publish a word-for-word record of their meetings. Their minutes are the official account of what was decided, so OpenCouncil only says what was decided once the minutes are out.
1
The agenda is published
About a week before the meeting, the council publishes the agenda and the reports councillors will discuss.
2
The meeting happens
Councillors debate and vote. OpenCouncil records who attended.
3
The minutes come out
Usually a few weeks later, the council publishes the minutes: the official record of what was decided.
4
OpenCouncil explains it
AI reads the minutes and reports and writes a short account in English and Welsh. Every point links to the document it came from.
